How to Remove Hidden Double-Spacing in Outlook

This is how to remove the automatic double-spacing that happens when sending message from Outlook to other email such as Gmail, etc, which somehow adds double-spacing… Ctrl + Enter will create the single space for web emails, but its to tiring to remember to hit Ctrl + Enter every time, so this is a permanent Fix..

  • Open Outlook
  • Create New Message
  • Click Cursor onto Email Body
  • Click “Format Text” tab
  • in “Styles” bar, click small right-hand corner icon
  • Right-Click / hover over “Normal”
  • Click on the Right Drop-Down Arrow if hovering (x86)
  • Click “Modify…” at the Bottom left corner
  • Click “Format” at the bottom left Corner
  • Click “Paragraph…”
  • in “Spacing” section, select “Single”
  • Before = 0pt
  • After = 0pt
  • Click “OK”
  • Select “New Documents Based on this Template”
  • Click “OK”
  • Go back to “Styles” bar corner icon and then click the “Normal” and click the drop-down arrow
  • Select the first option “Update Normal to Match Selection”
  • go back to the “Format Text” tab
  • “Styles” bar right-hand icon
  • click “Options…” on bottom right corner
  • Go to “Set Defaults” tab
  • find the “Paragraph Spacing” section
  • set “Line Spacing” to “Single”
  • Before=0pt
  • After=0pt
  • Select “New Documents Based on this Template”
  • Select “OK”
  • Go back to “Styles” bar corner icon and then click the “Normal” and click the drop-down arrow
  • Select the first option “Update Normal to Match Selection”
  • go to the “Format Text” tab
  • Click on “Change Styles” icon to the right of the styles
  • Click “Set as Default”
  • type your Message & Send
  • it should be saved for all future messages

OR, select “NO SPACING” instead of Normal, and set it as default

OR hit Shift+Enter at the end of every line
